National Running Day survey

National Running Day was last week.  I found this survey on one of the blogs I read and thought it would be fun to do.

Why do you run?
I run for a LOT of different reasons.  I run to remember that there’s always room for improvement, to test my own limits, for fun, for fitness, to clear my mind, to solve problems, and so much more.
How do you plan to celebrate National Running Day?
well, since this day is already passed, let me just tell you that I literally RAN an errand.  I ran the 3 miles to the pharmacy and then the 3 miles back home.
How many miles have you run so far this year? Do you have a mileage goal for the year?
I have run 475 miles so far this year.  My mileage goal for this year is 1000+
What big events do you have on the race calendar so far this year?
oh my…yea, let’s just talk about the half marathons and marathons.  Marathon-wise, I’ve got the South Padre Island in November and the San Antonio RNR in December.  Half marathon-wise, I have the the Night Moves trail half, Dragon's Den half, the Hill Country Halloween half, and the Decker Challenge half .
Before I leave for a run I must have:
for every regular training run, I have my hydration pack, my cellphone, my Garmin, my FitBit, my mini-body glide in case I need to reapply, a hat/visor, and my selfie stick.  Oh and gels if longer than 8 miles.
Do you track your runs? If so what do you use?
yes, I track all my runs.  I use my Garmin and my FitBit.  Mostly the Garmin is what I go by for mileage unless, like the other day, it dies partway into my run, then I do my mileage off my FitBit.  And then online I additionally log my runs into dailymile.com.
Who is your favorite running partner?
only occasionally.  Right now she’s wrapping up with nursing school and certifications so she’s super busy.
What races have you run so far this year?
oh lord, that’s a really long list, here we go:
• Rogue 30K
• Chocoholic Frolic 10K
• Austin Marathon
• Music Run 5K
• Illuminations Half
• San Felipe Shootout (5K/10K/half)
• Shamrockin' 5K
ASH Dash 5K
• Austin 10/20
• Capitol 10K
• Sisters "Better Half"
• Bend Half
• Wildflower Half
• Sunshine Run 10K
• Autism Speaks Texas 8K
If you have to give someone one piece of advice about running, what would it be?
don’t compare yourself to others.  Run at your own ability.
Describe your relationship with running in one word:
destiny
