I went on vacation from work a little over a week and a half ago. I had no plans to go anywhere or to do anything. I just wanted the time off from work. I decided to challenge myself during this 16 day time frame that I would be off work. I challenged myself to lose 4 lbs before returning to work. I challenged myself to my own version of The Biggest Loser boot camp. I decided that I would walk for 2 hours at a decent rate (I can do a mile in about 17 minutes) one day and then ride my bicycle for as long as I could the next day (I started out at a 50-minute 9.25 mile ride and have gone up to a 2.5 hour 25.5 mile ride) and then just flip back and forth between the 2 exercises during my time off. In addition, I challenged myself to do one of my workout DVDs each day. I have gotten away from doing a DVD on cycling days but only because at 2.5 hrs and 25.5 miles ridden, I’m burning up to 1800 calories, so there's no reason to do a second workout on my cycling days...unless I’m just bored. But I’ve made a point to make sure I get that DVD workout done on my walk days. Of course, the 2 hour walk (about 7 miles) burns over 700 calories on its own.
On top of my physical challenges that I’ve put up for myself, I decided I would also do a fruit/veggie/juice cleanse for 5-15 days...depending on what I can afford. It consists of ALL fresh fruits and veggies, so it's quite pricey. I’ve already spent over $150 on it and today is only day #4. don't get me wrong, I’m not saying that the 4 days so far have cost me $150, I’m just saying that I did my shopping list for the first 5 days and it cost me $150...but there will be enough food to last longer than the 5 days. There’s probably enough to last about 8 or 9 days. Really, I’m hoping to make it at least 11 days on the cleanse. I’ve done this cleanse before twice. One of those times, it helped me lose 8 pounds. I made it 12 days that time before I caved into my cravings for fried chicken. The big thing to remember in regards to that is that I wasn't exercising at the same time I was doing the cleanse. I was ONLY doing the cleanse. So, my results this time around will be much greater.
So far during my time off, I’ve lost about 5 lbs. My vacation started on the Wednesday before last and last Sunday I registered a 1.2 lb loss. Today I registered a 4.4 lb loss (HOORAY!!!!). So, we'll just round out what I’ve lost while actually on vacation to 5 lbs. I don't return to work until this Friday, so I’ll do an unofficial weigh in on Friday morning to see what my total lost while on vacation is. I’m guessing it's going to be about 7 or 8 lbs total. I only challenged myself to lose a total of 4 lbs while on vacation! This is a great boost for me.
My number totals since January 1st are 23.4 lbs lost, 12 inches gone, and 2 pants sizes down. I feel fantastic!
