This
morning, I went out on my run. I started
off a little tentatively, but soon I was running in stride at a 10:06 min/mile
pace. NICE!!! My hip felt just fine…basically
normal, in fact. I also added those 2
new stretches to my after run routine. I’m
not going to do the foam roller on my hip until I’m sure the bursa is no longer
inflamed. I don’t want to aggravate it
but squishing it. But, I am icing
it. 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off and
then 20 minutes on again. I know this
will help keep the inflammation down. I’m
hoping that icing after every run like this will keep my bursa from getting inflamed
again.
I’m
not gonna lie, I was a little scare to go and run this morning. I was soooo afraid that my hip was going to
start hurting extremely bad and I was going to limp home in shame. I was afraid that I was going to overdo it by
going ahead and running today. I am so
happy that I not only proved my fears dead wrong, but that I had the best
non-race run in MONTHS! I probably haven’t
run this fast and actually holding basically the same pace (only a difference
of about 15 seconds in either way above my final average pace of 10:16) for 6
miles since I first got my Garmin (read about that here) back in
March.
I
felt absolutely great on my run this morning.
When I saw my pace start to drop a little in the last ¾ of a mile of my
run, I just kept telling myself something to the tune of “I’ve been going at
this pace for 50-some minutes, I can keep it up for another 5-6-7 minutes.” And you know what? I did it.
And I’m so happy with my run today.
So,
suffice it to say, I am looking forward to my 10.5 mile run this coming Sunday. I’m sure I will do just fine and that my hip
will continue to do as good as it did today.
Excellent job. I have a foam roller if you need one.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I actually have a foam roller, I bought it back when my running "career" started last October because I was seeing a doctor to get my shin splints fixed and his physical therapist assistant prescribed daily foam rolling of my entire legs.
