Today
was my weekly weigh in and I was not completely disappointed. I did not gain any weigh this week, but I didn’t
lose either. But, like I said yesterday,
as long as that was the “worst” thing that happened, I’m okay with that
result. So, another week at 172.2. I know it was due to the indulgence that was
the 4th of July. Since I won’t
have that kind of indulgence next week before I weigh in (next week’s weigh in
will be on Friday, however, because I’ll be out of town on Saturday), I’m
hoping to see at least a 1 pound loss next week…so
long as I’m able to keep up my workouts like I did this week. And I see no reason I can’t do that. I have no overtime scheduled, so all my
mornings before work are free for exercise.
Last
night, I tried something with my dinner that I’ve been meaning to try for a
couple weeks now, but just never got around to buying the avocados to do
it. My dinner rotates between a 1/3
pound grilled turkey burger patty with ketchup and a 4 oz baked salmon
filet. While I can’t remember exactly
what prompted the idea to change the ketchup to avocado, I’ve been wanting to
try it now for about a week and a half to two weeks now. Well, yesterday I finally bought a couple
avocados. When I got home from work last
night, I grilled the turkey burger patty on my panini press, then lightly
salted it with low sodium salt. I cut the
avocado in half and mashed one half of it to spread on the patty. I then ate it. OMG! Turkey
burger heaven! It’s like a million times
better tasting than it is with ketchup. Sure
it’s a little pricier to buy avocados to do this with, but really, it’s not
like avocados are $2 each. Right now
they’re 2 for $1. For the much better
taste (and it’s healthier because ketchup is chock full of sugar and
preservatives), I’m willing to fork out the slightly additional cost.
I
like how the turkey burger just happened to be situated on the butterfly so it
looks like it has wings. Hahahaha!
Frankly,
I don’t know why I would ever go back to eating beef burger patties. Turkey burger patties taste just as good and
they’re so much healthier for you because they don’t have as much saturated fat
in them. Anyway, I rarely eat red meat
anymore. I might eat a steak or
cheeseburger in a restaurant once a month or every other month, but that’s it
really. Mostly, I’m poultry and fish for
my meats.
While
browsing my Facebook wall this morning, one of the fitness related pages I follow
had posted a challenge picture for push-ups.
I’ve been wanting to add push-ups and pull-ups to my mornings on most, if
not all, days. I have a pull-up bar in
my bedroom doorway, so I really have no excuse to NOT do them…and
push-ups…all
you need is a floor and I definitely have one of those. So, maybe I’ll start doing these every
morning. Who’s with me?
Oh
and I’ll have to do these push-ups on my knees as I can only do 4 or 5 “real”
push-ups. I remember when I was in the Army
(16 years ago…ugh) and could easily do 50. Someday I’ll work my way back up to that
number.
