Day 1 of Saying "no"

Well, today was 98% successful.  I worked with Steve today and he usually eats cookies with his dinner and always offers me a cookie.  I always accept.  Today, at the beginning of our shift, I told him I didn’t want a cookie.  Then, halfway through the shift, he pulls out his dinner, which is usually just a tv dinner and it’s home cooked thin sliced brisket and mac’n’cheese.  He tells me that he brought more brisket than he would be able to eat and did I want some.  I said that brisket wasn’t a cookie and if I only had a little bit, then it would be okay.  It was a small brisket to start off with, oval in shape, 3 inches by 2 inches, and he had sliced it VERY thinly…less than ¼ inch thick.  I took 2 slices from him and they were good.

Anyway, I started off my day with my usual 2 multigrain waffles with 3 tbsp chocolate PB2 and a banana.  Then I had my protein powder mixed in 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk.  Around 4pm, I had my first snack at work, 1 cup ff cottage cheese with 1 single serve cup of mixed fruit in light syrup.  Then, around 6 I had the above mentioned 2 slices of brisket and my serving of 0% plain Greek yogurt with the thawed frozen berries.  At 8pm is where I got derailed.  I went to eat my sliced bell peppers but they were gross.  I had originally sliced them and put them in the Ziploc bag on Saturday.  It is now Monday.  They weren’t slimy, so I had thought they would be okay, but they were gross.  So I threw them away and didn’t have anything to eat until I got home around 10:30pm.  I ate my swordfish steak with some low sodium soy sauce.  Usually that’s all I would eat for dinner, but I was hungry and low on veggies for the day thanks to the gross bell peppers, so I popped one of my bags of steamable mixed veggies into the microwave and ate those too.

So, I’d say that today was a good day for me.  I took the day as it came and didn’t over think it.  I’m satisfied with how today turned out.

  2. That sounds like you did super well. I had a setback last week despite planning as well - I had brought healthy chili & brown rice to work for lunch. Unfortunately I dropped it all over the counter as I tried to microwave it. Then I was really hungry for the rest of the day and I think I ate pretty poorly when I got home. But you ate really well when you got home :)
