Well,
dinner last night did not go as planned. The place I was going to go
to for my dinner is a 24 hour restaurant…except for Wednesdays between
1am and 6am. Guess when I went.
That’s right. Wednesday at about 1:50am. I started working at 1:45pm
on Tuesday, so as far as I was concerned, it was still Tuesday. It
didn’t even dawn on me that at midnight it became Wednesday. I say this
because I looked up their menu online and I
made a note of their hours and it said that they were closed on
Wednesdays between 1am and 6am for cleaning. So, I went to the nearest
place I could think of and ended up getting something completely
unhealthy because I was too tired to think strategically.
I went to Taco Cabana and got a cabana bowl with ground beef (a taco
salad, basically). What I should have done, if I was insisting on going
to Taco Cabana, was get chicken fajitas or some kind of just meat soft
tacos. Or, I could have gone a little further
down the street to McDonald’s and gotten a grilled chicken sandwich
with no sauces on it. Oh well…hindsight, right?
Regardless
of my unhealthy food choice on night shift last night…oh wait, there’s
more. I had 2 cookies because one of the nurses brought in 2 bags of
cookies from this place called
Tiff’s Treats. I had a 2 snickerdoodle cookies. They were soooo
good. But I should have said no. Anyway, regardless of the choice to
eat 2 cookies and a cabana bowl, I feel okay today. I didn’t overeat,
per se, last night, I just made a couple ill-thought-out
choices. There was one side effect…after 2 days of eating clean, my
body was not happy with the junk food. I had bad indigestion the rest
of the night as a result.
So,
I’m back “on the wagon” again today. I got off work at 6am and was
home and in bed by 6:40. Then I was up again at 12:15pm and getting
ready for work. I drank my protein powder
with almond milk while I was getting my at work snacks ready and packed
in my bag. I stopped at Starbuck’s on the way to work and got a trenta
sized iced coffee with skim milk and sweetener. I should have
specified sugar free sweetener because I think they
used sugar and unless I’m eating a pastry or a dessert item I don’t
like sugar.
So,
around 4pm, I ate my ff cottage cheese with some mandarin oranges in
light syrup. Then, around 6pm, I ate my 0% plain Greek yogurt with
mixed fruit, granola and 2 stevia packets.
Oh, I forgot to mention, the granola is KIND brand and has quinoa in
it! And it’s only 130 calories for 1/3 cup, which is the perfect amount
to put in my yogurt. And then, at around 8pm I ate my sliced bell
peppers.
For
dinner, I stopped at the store on the way home to buy a couple avocados
so I could smoosh and spread one on top of a grilled turkey burger
patty. YUM! So, other than no exercise
today, today was a 100% success. And that makes me happy!
Maybe
you’ve figured it out, but for the next month, while I’m getting myself
back on track with my eating and my exercise, I want to be making daily
posts to help keep myself accountable.
Oh! Guess what I did to myself. I’ve been signed up to work overtime on the night shift on the 14th (next Saturday) for a couple weeks now. So, then I make plans with
the ladies from the day shift to have sushi on the 15th at
2:30pm. That’s not a problem, I’ve done that turnaround before. The
problem is that I registered for a 5K (the Run With The Heroes 5K) the
morning of the 15th. Ugh. Thank
god it’s only a 5k. I can go straight there from work, run it, hang
out for about 30 minutes post-race and then head home and nap for a few
hours, get up and go meet the girls for sushi. Then, if need be, I can
go home and nap…but I’ll probably just stay
up and do something around the apartment makeover-wise. I know I’ll
need to do my weekly cleaning that afternoon…the vacuuming, scooping the
cat boxes, change the sheets, do the laundry, Swiffer the faux wood
floors, wipe down all the smooth surfaces in the
apartment and dust. That’ll take me a couple hours to do.
Oh,
something I forgot to mention in yesterday’s check in was that I was
offered cheese (and I LOVE cheese) by a co-worker during my regular
working shift and I said “no.”
Oh goodness, I love Tiff's Treats cookies. I'm attempting to go without sweets this month pre-marathon, but yesterday was a disaster at work (my favorite defense attorney who I have retained on more than 20 cases gave her 2 weeks' notice) and I caved and ate 2 pepperidge farms cookies that were in the break room -- and they weren't even very good! If they'd been Tiff's cookies, I probably wouldn't have regretted eating them quite so much. It felt like I blew it for nothing. Ugh.
