I ran for the first time outside
today. I did 3 miles in 30 minutes and
36 seconds. That averages out to just
over 10 minutes per mile, almost a minute slower per mile than on the
treadmill; but, you know what? I’m okay with that because I feel great...I knew
I could make the transition from treadmill to real world running. my goal is to
run a 5K (3.1 miles) in 30 minutes or less...I’m VERY close to that goal too
can't wait to pick the 5K I want to run in march or April and cross that finish
line and then frame my race number! I feel GREAT right now! I accomplished something I set out to do and i did it quite well. In fact, I did it better than I expected. I expected to have to stop and walk at least once because I've heard that running outside is so much harder than running on a treadmill that moves your feet for you. While I could tell the difference and it was a little harder, it wasn't as dramatic as some people made it out to be. I can't wait to do it again on Sunday!
Running on the ground rather than a treadmill IS harder, but more rewarding. For one thing, you get a change of scenery, and a change of air. You get a feel for the ground you run over, and the day's weather as well. Sounds like it's going great for you!
ReplyDeleteyes, i definitely loved the change of scenery, it made the time just fly by!
