Friend Makin' Monday...a day late...YAY!

Here I am, a day late, as usual.  Haha!  Before we get to the Friend Makin’ Monday business, I want to fill you in on my day first.  I again woke up before my alarm went off.  Instead of almost an hour prior, it was only about 15 to 20 minutes prior.  Better.  Maybe tomorrow morning I’ll actually sleep until the alarm goes off.  A girl can hope, can’t she?  Anyway, stayed in bed until the alarm actually went off.  Got up and made my coffee and oatmeal and then there was a banana.  I left and headed for the agency’s gun range.  Today we had our first of 4 days on the range.  Outside.  It’s over 90 degrees out right now.  Thankfully, there is built in shade on the range, but it’s still hot and we get all sweaty.  We have to wear ballistic vests while on the range and those make you sweat even more!  We actually did live fire practicals today.  YAY!  I started off a little “excited” (more likely performance anxiety issues) and my shots were a little inconsistent.  By the end of the day, I was being fairly consistent with my shots.  I also wasn’t getting as “excited” as the day went on when it was my turn to go up to the target and shoot.

For lunch, all I ate was 2 sliced bell peppers and a Fage 0% plain Greek yogurt cup mixed with a mixed fruit single serving cup in light syrup.  No sweetener because I forgot it, but, you know what, it was okay.  It wasn’t super sweet, but it wasn’t all pucker face inducing either.  I was going to only eat some eggplant parmesan with quinoa spaghetti noodles for dinner and then a protein shake post run.  However, I made the decision to have Taco Bell instead.  I figured tomorrow is a complete rest day (except for the whole standing up 80% of the day while at the range part)…no exercise…so I would eat the lower calorie dinner option tomorrow.

Tonight was my first October run…6 miles.  I had to decide which route to run.  Was I going to run the Heritage loop plus .2 mile overlap or was I going to run the parkway loop to Railroad Ave/Pecan St loop?  The second one is actually a little over 6.5 miles.  Ultimately, because of my high daily run mileage from just 2 days ago, I opted for the Heritage loop plus .2 overlap.  I’ve got all month to rack up some extra mileage.  My run tonight was...well…hard.  It started off great.  I was coasting along at 9:30 or faster for most of the first mile, completing it in 9:48.  I was, after all, trying to pace myself.  My second mile was completed in 10:19.  Good.  Right on track.  Then, it all went downhill.  I had been holding onto the new technique more than I wasn’t for the majority of the first 2 miles.  I was still clinging to it, but I was obviously starting to fatigue from the effort of trying to do something new and keep doing it.  My third mile was 11:04.  My slowest mile was 11:45 (mile 5).  I managed an overall average of 11:02.  That’s cool.  But, I was really hoping to get closer to 10:30.  But, I didn’t foresee just how difficult trying to hold this new stride would be on me and my legs.  I’m pretty sure my hamstrings and calves are going to be at least a little sore tomorrow.  Also, the ball of my right foot is a little tender, but not bruised.  However, my shins don’t hurt anywhere near as bad as they have been.

As I was getting ready to get in the shower, I was stripping down and looked in the mirror and saw what I thought was chafing above my right hip bone.  Then I looked at it more closely and noticed that it wasn't red...it was kind of brownish.  It's a bruise.  From taking my gun out of the holster about a million times today.  Haha.
it only hurts if I push on it...so I shouldn't push on it...teehee
