Well, this weekend was packed full of fun. Saturday, I went out with some girl friends from work. We were supposed to go to sushi, but the universe conspired against us and we changed plans and ended up at this Latin restaurant called Gloria’s. Fabulous food! I got something called lechon asada. It was a grilled pork tenderloin with refried black beans and dark colored beans and rice, and there was fried plantains. It wasn’t healthy, but it wasn’t completely unhealthy either. When they brought us the chips and salsa before we ordered, there was a black bean dip that was fantastic! Anyway, I didn’t eat much else the rest of the day as that was a quite filling meal.
Yesterday, I went
with a couple friends to the Sherwood Forest renaissance festival. I always love going to the ren fairs. Our first stop, as always, is the vendor that
sells the ogre toes (crumbled bacon surrounded by sausage and then wrapped in
bacon and fried). They are not even
remotely healthy. They probably have a
million grams of saturated fat. But, I only
eat one a year, so it’s okay. It’s just
a treat. I also ate a funnel cake. Those aren’t as good as I remember them
being, so I may not ever get a funnel cake again. I had a little fudge as well. Yesterday evening, after I was home again, I went
out for a burger and fries. I didn’t have
the whole “oh well I’ve already eaten crap so I might as well eat more crap”
feeling. It was more along the lines of
it’s a “cheat day” so why not? I don’t
feel guilty about it. If I don’t lose
this week as a result of my indulgences, I’m okay with that. I just have my fingers crossed that I don’t
gain anything.
Anyway, I originally
wasn’t planning on going to the gym yesterday because I honestly didn’t think I’d
have time, but I forgot that there isn’t a 3 hour drive home from this ren fair
so I was home around 2:30pm and had LOADS of time. Around 7pm last night, after my burger had
settled, I headed out to the gym. Since I
still have both gym memberships until I can cancel the Planet Fitness one after
the 8th (that’s my 1 year with them so I can then cancel without a
fee), I hit both gyms. Why you ask? Well, I know where all the machines are in
regards to the workout I’ve been doing so it’s just easier to go to
PF and do that workout there. Took me an
hour and 20 minutes to complete the whole legs/calves/abs workout. Felt great.
Then, it was across the road to 24 Hour Fitness for 30 minutes on the
rowing machine. I haven’t used a rowing
machine in like 15 years. I have to
figure out good posture for that thing because it hurt my back. Also, I almost
got a blister on one of my heels. Anyway,
between the 2 workouts, I burned about 1000 calories. Woohoo!
Today is a run
day (technically yesterday was a run day, but I’m not running at 3pm if I can
avoid it), and I’m going for 5.5 miles again.
I’m going to hit it as hard as I can this week to try and offset what I ate
over the weekend and hope for, at the very least, an exact repeat of Saturday’s
weigh in of 174. Like I said, so long as
I don’t gain, I’ll be happy.
