Well, today was
my weigh in day. As you can tell by the
time of my post, I have attempted to avoid posting about it. Ugh. But
it must be done. I must be truthful,
honest and forthcoming, because if I can’t be those things, then there is no
point in this blog at all.
The first bit
of “bad” news is that I’m up 1.8 lbs this week.
Oy. I regained almost all of what
I lost last week. So depressing. But, I have to remember that it’s only one
week and that weight fluctuates and also, I had a fun weekend last weekend and
allowed myself to eat what I wanted. The
rest of the week wasn’t great, though. There
was some fried chicken one night at work with a biscuit and some honey on
it. There have been many, many Cadbury
eggs, I’m ashamed to say. I also ate a
sausage yesterday. I just had an off
week. I’ve got to just pull up my
britches and move on.
I didn’t meet
my somewhat lofty goal of burning 5000 calories through exercise this
week. But, I did come close with a total
of 4780. Not too shabby, really. I’m going to shoot for 5000 again next week,
we’ll see if I can hit it. I’m running
tomorrow for 6.2 miles (that’ll be about 900 calories right there), then I’m
doing 5.5 miles the other 2 run days for the week (that’s about 700 each of
those runs, so with just running, I will have burned 2300). Next Saturday I’m going to do the boot camp
class at my gym (last time I did it I burned about 525 calories) and go
bicycling for at least an hour and a half, if not for 2 full hours (the 45
minutes I did today burned about 425 calories…so an hour and
a half would be double that at 850, 2 hours would be over 1000). Then, I’ll have at least 3 strength training
sessions during the week (those usually burn between 300 and 700, depending on
the intensity and muscle group being worked)….and then, if I
don’t take a rest day, there will be a day of Zumba (and that should burn about
450).
So, I’ve got a
plan for the upcoming week. A good plan,
in my opinion. And I’m hoping to stick to
my food planning and see a reloss of the weight I regained this week. I’d like to be back to 174 this time next
week. I can deal with a temporary
setback so long as that’s what it is: temporary. I can’t let this little gain get to me and
bring me down. I can’t give into my
temptations to just throw in the towel and eat whatever I fancy.
OH! I almost forgot to tell you! I went to a CrossFit class this morning. The class I went to was a bit of a mistake as
I went to what they call and “Open” class which is apparently their term for a
test day. They did have an auxiliary workout
that me and another girl did together. It
consisted of strictly burpees and medicine ball swings. Woo. Hoo. Not really. While I liked the class, I was not
impressed. After talking to the girl I was
working out with, I am convinced that if I had sat in on a regular class I would
have had a lot more fun. I did burn
about 425 calories during the hour I was there, but there was a LOT of just
standing around. I did not like that
part. If I’m somewhere where I’m to be
working out, I do not want to be just standing around and socializing while
everyone around me is working out but I’m not because the workout I’ve been
assigned only takes us 9 minutes to complete.
I’m just glad I didn’t pay for this class. I’m hoping I can sit in on another CrossFit
class with my friend Alex the next time his gym does the friends & family
week in June…if they’ll let me do it again. I hope they will. I would really like to do a regular class.
